The location is lovely, right on Greenwich market next to the Cutty Sark.
The whole place is steeped in history.
It’s not a fancy restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, but for good value honest to god good old fashioned food, this is the place to visit.MnMCollins3792

March 22, 2022Its a filling cheap meal. Pie and mash purists won't like the pies due to there being an almost gravy like texture with the mince. The pastry was flaky too.... read more The sight of gravy, baked beans and tinned peas going out indicates this is a tourist necessity and thats fine, theyre busy hard working folk here and its good to see business brisk. Liquor was a bit thick for my liking, although mash was great. Try the rhubarb crumble and the jellied eels (not stewed) were pretty good. A cheap meal and nice people.

the gentleman and the lady behind the counter were really friendly. i asked for eel, mashed and pie. The young lady asked me if i ever had eels (probably because of the bones), and when i asked for gravy, she said : no no darling, you want liquor with your eels!
(she is of course right).
i travelled light, so i couldn’t bring home their products (chilly oil and such). But the chilly oil tastes great with the eel (they have it on every table).
anyway, will go there again whenever i visit london next time.flyingvigil
