We went on a Monday and the place was still busy (downstairs) so we headed up to the upstairs area where there were tables next to the windows. We ordered an onion pie and a chicken & mushroom pie, both very filling with generous portions of gravy. We also tried the apple crumble and the bread and butter pudding, the apple crumble had a very nice crunch, however I found the bread and butter pudding a little let down. Overall the quality is still good with the pricing they offer.

Pies and mashed potatoes. I had the chicken and mushroom pie. It was good. I had a couple of big chunks of chicken. The outer edges of the crust were a little over cooked but tasty.

As an expat living in London, UK for a few years, this restaurant provided me with an opportunity to savor a piece of British traditional food. The ambiance of the place instantly made me feel at home, and the food was truly incredible. Additionally, the staff were extremely friendly and kind, which enhanced the overall experience. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone!

The restaurant is very characterist and charming, reminding as soon as you enter the main door of its heritage - open since 1890! It has plenty of options, two vegans as well, and a fast although not very friendly service. We had a vegan pie, the one picture were you can see the inside of the soya pie, which was really big. Lacked a bit of salt which you can add at the table. The other option is to have two different pies and the portion is really filling. For the food and location I think the prices are really great.

Visited on 17 Sep 2024. The pie was flavorful but not overly salted, top quality! Efficient ordering and collection process. We sat upstairs, comfortably.

I heard about this place from one of my foody colleagues. It is a family-owned and old business that still sticks to tradition. I got double pie mash. One was beef, and the other was steak and ale with gravy. I like the steak more than the other, and if you like it salty, you need to add it yourself. The owner and his daughter were so kind and friendly. They explained to me about every option patiently. You can go to Greenwich Hill and the museum, then come to this place for a good lunch.

An old institution (since 1890) that serves pie and mash. They have a vegatarian and vegan option as well. The owners are very considerate. We were choosing the gravy and the lady said "they're all vegan, darlin'". It was really nice of them 🙂 they make people feel welcome, like family. Lovely, lovely place 🙂

So glad we stopped here for dinner, rather than braving one of the uninspiring chain restaurants on the high street. The staff were genuine, friendly, efficient, and kind to everyone who came in. Even the lady asking for chips (“just pie and mash, love!”) was directed enthusiastically to the nearest chippy. Top mash, great liquor... but I didn’t really enjoy my pie all that much. It had a slightly strange flavour. At £9 for a beer, veggie soya pie, mash, peas and liquor you can’t really go wrong, but the vegan pie at G Kelly on Roman Road is still a cut above. I would highly recommend Goddard’s over anything else nearby, though! Especially if you’re looking for some fast, hot, tasty food and an authentic experience. I think the traditional meat pies may be more reliable than the veggie option - my partner enjoyed his classic beef mince version. It is also super clean in here, and the puddings look great - shame we were too full to try one.

I really liked having breakfast here, it's an area of London I had not yet visited, but from what I gathered, this place had history and Gave me a good feel of Greenwich. The food was traditional and wholesome, and yet didn't take a big bite out of the wallet either; good food for cheap. If you like pie, give this spot a try.

Love this place. Great pies, I like the double double, but the steak and ale is probably my favourite. Good, quick and tasty food on a budget. I’m not a huge fan of liquor, the gravy is superb, as a northerner it’s nice and thick how we like it
