Goddards is the best pie and mash shop in London hands down. Been eating in here for many years now and nowhere else compares. There are a variety of quality... read more pies including veggie options. They also do amazing homemade fruit pies and crumbles all with custard or ice cream and the prices are very reasonable with decent portions that fill you up. Staff are always very friendly and the place is always really clean. Staff go round clearing and cleaning tables as customers come and go. We had steak and ale pies today but they were a bit disappointing as very bland and not much flavour. Had these pies before and usually very good so not too sure what happened today?? It’s always been spot on for a great pie and mash so maybe todays steak and ale pies let down were a one off. Still the best pie and mash shop of all time IMO.

We walked by a nice looking pub and I asked if they had gluten-free pub lunches because it is not... read more noted on the hanging menu board. This needs to be changed quickly! My first pub food was good, a little bland, but the serving was quite large and my meat pie was covered in a golden-brown crust. I got a minced beef pie, mashed potatoes and gravy and peas. I was only able to eat half of it. Thank you for the opportunity to eat pub food -an item on my London bucket list.

Firstly I never write reviews. But I believe that this restaurant deserves my time and effort to write this one .
I originally come from Battersea in London. And I... read more was brought up on pie mash & licquer as a child.
I had just visited the Greenwich Planaterium when I saw the Goddards pie mash& licquer signage. so I thought that I would give it a try . To be honest I was not expecting much from my lunch here as a few years ago I visited a pie &mash shop closer to where I originally lived (Battersea ) and was very dissapointed with the food .But right from the moment that I walked through Goddards door seeing the traditional benches the ambience that you feel. And the friendly service that I received from the young girl that served me right down to the hot traditional pie mash & licquer that was how I remember it (The pie was proper minced beef with the pastry topping as I remember it .The mash was better than I remember more tasty & smooth and the Licquer sauce was thick and flavourful as it should be. My meal was Delicious . I believe that what ever country you come from to visit London IF you truly want to experience what Londoners traditionally ate when they where growing up and want the 100% traditional pie mash& Licquer experience with ambience and delicious food and friendly service and numerous tourist places to visit right on Goddards door step
I can honestly say that I believe this to be the most traditional Delicious tasting friendly pie mash & licquer shop in London
Which before I left I told the man that was cooking the pies behind the counter my views on the restaurant and that I would be writing a review of this fantastic reasonably priced restaurant of which I will most deffinetly will be visiting again when I am in London
Please dont just take my word for it . Visit it and Taste for yourself .
It is only a 2 minuite walk from the Maritime Museum in Greenwich

The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The prices were good as well, 1 pound for a cup of tea in London is practically unheard of nowadays, especially in a tourist area like Greenwich.
The location is lovely, right on Greenwich market next to the Cutty Sark.
The whole place is steeped in history.
It’s not a fancy restaurant by any stretch of the imagination, but for good value honest to god good old fashioned food, this is the place to visit.
