After walking for hours in Greenwich visiting the Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, and the Queen’s House, I stumbled upon this place while walking back to take the boat to Central London. So happy that I decided to stop by for a quick bite. Prices are beyond reasonable for London standards, and the staff is beyond friendly. I got the traditional pie and mash with liquor, and some tea… all for £5 too! The pie was very fresh, and I had never tried pie with liquor before, but really loved it. Would love to come here if I ever visit Greenwich again!

We ordered the Steak and Ale Pie and Chicken and Mushroom Pie with Mash and Gravy plus the Apple Crumble with Custard. The ambience, service, prices, seating and taste are a legitimate pub experience. I am very happy we passed through this place and I am glad we gave it a try. It was a really wonderful meal. So in here, you’ll have to queue, order and then choose a seat after. There are plenty of seats on the other side of the restaurant and upstairs. We paid less than £20 for 2 meals, 2 drinks and 1 dessert. The portions are massive. Also, they take card payments.

Great wee restaurant serving the London classic of pie and mash. Excellent atmosphere and the food was phenomenal. Filling and hearty. A must visit and one I will definitely return to.
Lovely well portinaly sized pies.

I watched a London food review on YouTube a few weeks ago that mentioned Goddard’s so when I was in Greenwich, I had to give it a try. My wife and I were not disappointed. Kate had the lamb n mash with a beer and I had the beef n mash. The gravy was superb. What a shame I’m flying out of England tomorrow… otherwise I would be back for the peppered steak pie.
Great pie and mash, if you want a real experience of east London food come here. The Staff are kind and welcoming. Highly recommend people to visit ?
Travelled by coach from Henley in Arden (via Birmingham) especially to pay a visit to this venue which has been open since 1886 I think. Wanted to try the traditional pie and mash with liquor. The coach dropped us off about seven minutes walk from Goddards,so we found the place easily. Wasn't disappointed. Lots of choices on the pies which you can have with mash and mushy peas, the liquor (which is a bit like parsley sauce) or gravy. I had the chicken and mushroom pie with mash and the liquor. Absolutely delicious and so reasonably priced. They also do a great range of puddings, including bread and butter pudding, plus fruit crumbles with custard or ice cream. Well worth a visit.

Traditional East end pie and mash but with Vegan options as well! Love me a bit of pie and mash, this is what you expect, lovely inside, vinegar on the tables, good price for a filling meal (I had 2 pie, 1 mash). You can have gravy if you don't fancy liqour (but why would you?). Will definitely visit whenever I'm back in Greenwich. Thanks for allowing me to have the food of my childhood whilst being vegan.
Great place to eat ..
